How I use AI on your copy

What AI does, what I check myself, what never goes into it, and a paragraph you can send a client who asks.

Last updated 27 September 2026.

The short version

You don’t have to hunt for made-up claims, strip out generic phrasing or trace where a line came from. I do that before you see the draft. Your only checking job is the one nobody else can do: a few short questions about facts of your own business.

I use AI for research and first drafts. I check and edit every line myself.

Every claim traces to your own material, and the draft shows the source of each line. AI never invents proof.

Names of real people are taken out before any AI step, and confidential material stays out unless you agree in writing.

If you’d rather I didn’t use AI on your job, say so before we start. The price stays the same. How to say no

1. What does AI do?

Research. It helps me read your public pages and the material you send, and pull out the claims, phrases and questions that matter.

First drafts. It gives me a first version of sections, and other ways to write a line so I can compare them.

AI can write details nobody gave it. That is why the next part exists.

2. What do I do myself?

I read your material, then check every line of the draft against it. Anything that doesn’t match your facts, or doesn’t sound like you, I rewrite.

How you see the source. The Google Doc you receive has a Source column. Next to each line it names where the claim came from, for example “your About page” or “brief, question 3”.

What you still confirm. A source shows where a claim came from. Only you can say it is still true of your business. So anything I can’t trace, or that may be out of date, is marked “to confirm” and comes to you as a short question, never a guess.

Three labels. Every document carries one of three: Draft (the first version, with open questions marked), Facts confirmed (every “to confirm” answered) and Approved (the final version you approved).

I make the final edit, and I am responsible for every word you receive, as the Terms set out.

3. What is AI never used for?

  • Inventing facts, figures, results, quotes or testimonials.
  • Filling a gap in your material. Gaps become questions for you.
  • Deciding what your page claims. That comes from you.
  • Drafting proof. If a job includes case studies or testimonials, I write them myself, with no AI draft, only from your notes and the customer’s own words.
  • Contacting anyone, or sending anything on my behalf.

4. What goes into the tools, and what never does?

What goes in: your brief, your material and your public pages.

Only with your written consent: names and contact details of real people, such as customers, members or staff. I remove or replace them before any AI step. The same goes for anything you mark confidential or send under an NDA, and figures you haven’t published.

Never at all: payment details, logins or passwords.

What I keep, and what I delete

WhatWhat happens to it
Working files: your raw material, notes, research and drafts you didn’t approveDeleted within 30 days of the job closing, unless you ask me to keep them. The same applies if you don’t approve a draft.
The final approved copyKept on file for your next job, until you ask me to delete it.
Your voice notes (a short written note on how your organisation sounds, including UK or US spelling)Kept on file for your next job, until you ask me to delete them. They are yours to reuse.

To have anything deleted sooner, email me. The periods for invoices and tax records are on the privacy page.

5. Which tools do I use?

The kinds of service I use are described on the privacy page. Ask me and I will tell you which services hold your data.

If your client has an AI policy. Ask before the job starts. I reply in writing within 1 UK working day, naming the AI services I would use on your job and what I know of their settings for training on and keeping what goes in. If that doesn’t meet the policy, you can choose no AI at the same price.

I act only on your written instructions and keep the data confidential and secure. I answer your questions about how I handle the data, and tell you of any breach without undue delay after I become aware of it.

If I add or change a kind of tool, I tell current clients first, then update this page and the date at the top.

6. Can I say no to AI?

Yes. Tell me by email before the job starts, for the whole job or for particular files. Those files then never go into an AI tool, and I do that work by hand.

The price stays the same. Work by hand can take longer, so before I start I confirm the delivery date in writing. If that date doesn’t suit you, you can change your choice or not go ahead, and you owe nothing.

If your contract or your client’s policy limits AI use, send me the clause with your brief and I’ll follow it.

Email me: no AI on my job

7. Confidentiality and your client

The copy goes out under your name. I never contact or name your client, and I never show the work without your written permission. I sign your NDA on request.

I don’t add AI labels or watermarks to your copy. Whether you tell your own audience about AI is your decision.

Once you approve, you can publish the copy. Copyright passes to you when the invoice is paid in full. Some countries protect only writing by a human author, so I assign the rights I own and don’t promise every line is protected everywhere. The rest is in the Terms, section 10.

8. What can I tell my client?

If your client asks how the copy was written, you can send them this, or adapt it.

Marcell Mozes, the writer on this project, uses AI for research and first drafts. He checks every line against the material supplied for this project, shows the source of each line, and marks anything he can’t source as a question. AI never invents proof, and he writes case studies and testimonials without AI drafting. Names of real people are removed before any AI step, and confidential material stays out unless we agree in writing. On request he works without AI at the same price. His working files are deleted within 30 days of the job closing. His full statement: marcellmozes.com/ai-use
